The education commission is one of the programmes of the PPI Belanda which is aimed to give assistance for children in Indonesia who are facing financial constraint to finish their compulsory education. The commission assigns a mechanism that will channel the assistances given by donors in an effective manner. The children who receive the donation are called foster siblings (adik asuh) instead of foster children (anak asuh). In order to ensuring the donation is received efficiently, the Commission has charted some criterias of whom should be the right recipient children: he/she should be determined to continue his/her study he/she should have good academic records he/she should come from family that has insufficient financial capability to support his/her study
The commission will provide these children with a certain amount of fund to support their education based on their annually average need: The commission will send the donation once every 6 months for the children in the junior high school and high school, and for children in the elementary school, the donation will be sent once a year. Every six months, the commission egularly evaluates their academic records and achievements in order to decide whether their progresses are still considered eligible for granting the assistance to them. In order to employ its supportive concerns to the students, Education Commission also strives for establishing a strong emotional partnership by encouraging its members or the donators to visit their foster siblings during their vacation trip back to Indonesia. As part of accountability, the coordinator of Education Commission is responsible to make progress report to the Presidium of PPI Belanda. The report can be accessed through the report (Laporan) link.
